Why does the corpus needed go up when the "Return After Retirement" goes down? Because during retirement your money keeps growing while you withdraw from it. A lower post-retirement return means it grows more slowly, so you need a bigger starting corpus to fund the same expenses. Separately, a higher Return Before Retirement lowers the monthly SIP you need today to build that corpus.
